Ram Navami Fest in Mulkharka Lake is the Example of Tradition with New trends.



Rama Nawami one of the Hindu festival, celebrating the birth of the god Rama son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya. Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, is one of the oldest avatars of Lord Vishnu having a human form. The holy day falls in the Shukla Paksha on the Navami, the ninth day of the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calendar. Thus it is also known as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, and marks the end of the nine-day Chaitra-Navaratri (Vasanta Navaratri) celebrations.
In the decade of 1920 there was no any Hindu Place of worship in Lingsey. People use to go to Mulkharka Lake to worship the nature God. People from different community accumulate there once in a year in the surrounding of the lake. They believe the Devi (Goddess) reside in the lake who protect the whole Lingsey and adjacent areas and if failed to worship her Devi will destruct the village in revenge.
Despite of all religious belief Lake we called Mulkharka Lake has some extra ordinary character, one is Clear Reflection of Kanchenjunga on the surface of Lake water, is rare in this region. In other hand in spite of situated inside the Jungle no single leaf can be seen floating on the lake water.
Now the trend has changed, the Mulkharka lake is being promoted as a Trekking Destination in Tourism Industry. Visitor from around the world come here to see the Reflection of the Kanchenjunga. But Tradition is same, local people worship it as Goddess (Devi) No one is allow to swim lake. On the Occasion of Ram Navami people celebrate and Organize Mela, sales local food item. Trekking, hiking and Jungle Expedition is one of the Attraction on the Mela (Fair).
